The Evergreen
Welcome to a time of destruction.
This land of ours, stricken by desperation.
When the world around us has come crashing down.
The evergreen still holds up the town. Like Narnia, the land is sharp and scary
Electricity sparking and tree roots breaking.
Limbs snapping with families under them.
Houses destroyed with lives built in them. The evergreen stands strong throughout.
Though his bows appear weak,
And his leaves to be long,
He knows the power of his hanging on. We look to Him with prayer.
We ask Him to give us hope.
We thank Him for not giving up.
We praise Him for staying afloat. This world is rough, as we all know.
And it will get worse, just let it go.
Stake your claim deep in the evergreen tree.
He will shelter you, if you will let Him, see?
** Dedicated to the survivors of the horrific ice storm of 2007, specifically Springfield, Missouri** Without the presence of this special tree,
Our lives would seem unprotected.
Yet with great shade as pillars of strength,
In the big picture, we are mostly unaffected. |
